Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about the Nest Learning Thermostat and our installation service.
Is the Nest Thermostat compatible with my heating system?
Yes — the Nest Learning Thermostat works with most gas central heating systems and wet underfloor heating. It’s compatible with:
- Combi boilers
- System and heat-only boilers
- S and Y plan systems
- Air and ground source heat pumps
- Biomass boilers, district heating and HIUs
Our installer will confirm compatibility during your appointment.
I already have a wireless thermostat. Will Nest work with my system?
In most cases, yes. If you already have a wireless thermostat, it’s very likely that Nest will be compatible with your setup.
Is the Nest Thermostat wireless?
The connection between the Nest thermostat and its Heat Link is wireless. However, the thermostat itself still needs power. This can be supplied:
- Via the Heat Link wiring
- Using a plug with the Nest Stand
- Through a low-voltage cable
I don’t have a power supply where I want to install it. What are my options?
If wall wiring isn’t available, we recommend using the optional Nest Stand (£35). It allows the thermostat to be placed on a flat surface like a table, dresser, or shelf and still function perfectly.
I want it wall-mounted but don’t have wiring there. Can you help?
This would require a non-standard installation. Our engineer can assess and quote for any additional work required. No additional charges are made without your approval.
Is it easy to use?
Very easy. The Nest Thermostat learns your routine and adapts over time. It can manage your heating without you needing to programme anything manually.
Can you install a second-hand Nest unit?
Yes, we can install a second-hand unit, but please contact us first. We only provide warranty on new devices supplied by us, and we do not take responsibility for the performance of used units.
I need more than two thermostats. What should I do?
For multi-zone heating (more than two thermostats), please call us to discuss your requirements. Our engineers can take card payment on-site or arrange a multi-unit order in advance.
What does it mean to be a Nest Pro?
Nest Pros are certified by Google to install, set up, and sell the Nest Learning Thermostat. Our engineers are fully qualified and meet UK standards, including BS 7671 for safe electrical installation. In homes where boiler covers must be removed, a skilled and competent person is always used.
